The 2018 midterms have come and gone, leaving Democrats in control of the House and a larger GOP majority in the Senate, thereby changing the political power structure in the nation’s capital.
One thing that hasn’t changed: Donald Trump remains the head of the Executive Branch, though it isn’t for lack of the Deep State trying its best to get rid of him.
Special counsel Robert Mueller’s “witch hunt” probe continues and is no closer to tying the president to so-called “Russian collusion” than when it started. The Democrat Party’s propaganda wing, the establishment media, has been unable to tank POTUS Trump’s approval rating, which stands at about 48-49 percent according to polling firm Rasmussen Reports (one of the very few firms to correctly predict Trump’s victory). And nothing that the Washington political class has thrown at the president has stuck, either.
That doesn’t mean that the DC swamp is giving up. House Democrats are already gearing up to launch a new series of investigations aimed at vitally important issues for the country: How much the president has paid in taxes, and whether or not his business empire ever spent a ruble in Moscow.
Beyond that, Democrats are getting help from the so-called “Justice” Department: Prosecutors in the corrupt Southern District of New York, the same district that just secured a three-year prison term for rat lawyer Michael Cohen, is now investigating the Trump 2016 inauguration for something every presidential administration in modern history has done: Accept donations and allow others to finance inaugural parties.
The Left-wing anti-Trump outlet New York Daily News reported this bit of leaked information:
Federal prosecutors in New York are investigating whether President Trump’s inaugural committee misused some of the record-breaking $107 million it raised and whether deep-pocketed donors were offered access to the incoming administration in exchange for cash, according to a report Thursday.
The inauguration development poses yet another legal threat to a President who already faces criminal investigations into his campaign, his namesake foundation and his family’s real estate company. Cohen, meanwhile, was sentenced to three years in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to a laundry list of crimes — some of which directly implicate Trump.
Wow. Sounds really bad, doesn’t it? Except that this is nothing more than a harassment investigation on the level of the Mueller probe. As Matt Margolis writes for PJ Media, “Big donors expecting access in exchange for big donations is politics. It’s been going on long before Trump came to town… and guess what, liberals? Obama did it too. It’s not me just making stuff up, The Washington Post reported on this just before Obama’s second inauguration.”
The Post noted that even after candidates Obama and GOP contender Mitt Romney spent a collective $2 billion in campaign donations, “the quest for dollars in Washington continues.”
“This weekend, the high rollers are paying for inauguration parties” that are mostly “busts” but at least provide “access” to the president and vice president.
“For the thousands of high-end donors who pay for the whole thing, the inauguration is about exclusive access to the president and vice president, as well as what insiders call ‘placement’ (jobs, they mean),” the Post reported.
The paper noted further that the parties were awful — bad food, crowded venues filled with people nobody knows or likes, crowded bars. Nevertheless, they were vital instruments of access that everyone knows are just a necessary part of ‘doing business’ in, and with, the DC swamp.
Even more hypocritical is this guy Obama. A separate New York Daily News story noted that during his first campaign, the 44th president condemned the ‘pay-for-access’ system in DC, but by 2012 when running for reelection had come to embrace it.
This new probe of the Trump inauguration is nothing more than the swamp’s latest attempt to get rid of a duly-elected president. Democrat or Republican, this should upset all Americans because it represents a blatant attempt to overturn the will of the people.
